How to calculate pips in XAUUSD
Gold is quoted in US dollars per troy ounce, usually to two decimal places, for example 4,125.40. A move from 4,125.40 to 4,125.50 is one pip: ten cents. A standard lot is 100 ounces, so each pip moves the position by 100 × $0.10 = $10.

At recent prices gold often moves $30 to $80 in a day, which is 300 to 800 pips. On one standard lot that is $3,000 to $8,000, which is why lot size matters so much more on gold than on most currency pairs. Use the lot size calculator to size trades from your risk instead of guessing.
Questions
How much is 1 pip on XAUUSD?
On most brokers one pip on gold is a $0.10 move in price, so one pip on a standard lot (100 ounces) is worth $10, on a mini lot (0.1) $1, and on a micro lot (0.01) $0.10.
Why do some brokers quote gold pips differently?
There's no single standard. Some platforms call a $0.01 move a point and a $0.10 move a pip; a few call a $1 move a pip. Check how your broker displays gold and adjust: this calculator uses $0.10 per pip, the most common convention and the one used for every Gold Signals Daily result.
Does the pip value of gold change with price?
No. Because gold is priced in US dollars, the pip value in dollars is fixed: $10 per pip per standard lot whatever the price. It only changes if your account is in another currency.
